Urgent Payment of Insurance Claims Needed to Save Pharmacies
In a recent meeting between the head of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Pharmacists Association of Fars Province, major challenges faced by pharmacies and the pharmaceutical sector in the country were discussed. One of the key points raised in the meeting was the urgent need for timely payment of pharmacy claims by insurance companies and the Program and Budget Organization to maintain balance in the country’s pharmaceutical system.
According to a report from Salamat News, quoting ISNA, Dr. Mehdi Pirsalehi, the head of the FDA, emphasized the gradual adjustment of drug profit margins and the transfer of planned drugs to private pharmacies. He also mentioned liquidity issues in the “DaruYar” program and delays in resource allocation as major reasons for the financial pressure on pharmacies, stressing the importance of continuous support for pharmacies.
The recent meeting in Shiraz between the FDA head and the Pharmacists Association focused on one of the major concerns of pharmacists in the country, underscoring the need for urgent financial support for pharmacies. Dr. Pirsalehi pointed out the liquidity problems in the DaruYar program and delays in resource allocation, urging insurance companies and the Program and Budget Organization to pay the claims of pharmacies on time. This is especially critical to avoid financial pressures on pharmacies and ensure the availability of medicines for patients.
During the meeting, the gradual adjustment of drug profit margins without shocking the pharmaceutical market and the transfer of planned drugs to private pharmacies were also discussed. Dr. Pirsalehi emphasized the need for accurate and transparent communication on this matter and highlighted the importance of further collaboration with the Pharmacists Association to address current challenges.
Another issue discussed was the monitoring of private clinics and hospital medications. Managing hospital debts and ensuring timely financial support to prevent accumulation of claims was also a major challenge for both pharmacies and hospitals, which was addressed in the meeting.
