Allocation of 50 Trillion Rials to Settle Healthcare Workers’ Outstanding Payments

The head of Iran’s Plan and Budget Organization announced that 50 trillion rials (5,000 billion tomans) have been allocated to the Ministry of Health to settle overdue payments owed to healthcare workers, particularly nurses, in order to quickly resolve delays in overtime compensation.
According to ISNA, Seyed Hamid Pourmohammadi, Vice President and head of the Plan and Budget Organization, made the announcement during a visit to the newly added wing of Hajar Hospital in Shahrekord. He noted that in recent years, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province had faced challenges due to a shortage of hospital beds compared to the national average, but the addition of 230 beds to Hajar Hospital has helped improve the situation.
He further added that during Government Week, 250 trillion rials (25,000 billion tomans) were also allocated to the Ministry of Health for medicine supply, which will contribute to settling pharmaceutical debts.
Pourmohammadi highlighted the sharp increase in healthcare staff overtime rates, noting that since last year the average hourly overtime pay for nurses has risen more than 300 percent—from 27–28 thousand tomans to 90 thousand tomans.
He stressed that the government is committed to preserving the dignity of healthcare workers and, through continued support and timely payments, aims to recognize and appreciate their tireless efforts.
