The lack of nurses during this period was such that according to reports received from some provinces and cities, the care of 25 corona patients was assigned to one nurse and in some hospitals of Tehran, one nurse was responsible for the care of 15 corona patients. The number of nurses per hospital bed in the country is about 0.8 people per bed and in disadvantaged cities such as Zahedan 0.5 people per bed, while the international standard is 4 nurses per bed.

The first nurse who fell victim to Corona in Iran was Narjes Khanalizadeh. A 24-year-old nurse at Milad Lahijan Hospital, who had her first nursing experience at Imam Hospital in Tehran and the Inpatient Center for Infectious Diseases. It took only 2 days from the onset of symptoms to Narjes’ death. After the death of Narjes, the nurses of Milad Hospital said and wrote: “March 4, 2018, he fainted and fell to the ground while attending to patients at his workplace. He was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital due to pulmonary complications and shortness of breath. He died in the afternoon of March 6, 2018 in Milad Lahijan Hospital.
